Two years after the release of his latest album, completing his Man on the Moon Trilogy, Kid Cudi finally was able to bring the record to life on tour. Stopping in Oakland, the crowd packed the arena in anticipation to see Kid Cudi perform.
Famous for his concept albums, fans could not wait to see what surprises were ahead of them. The deafening arena chanted “CUDI! CUDI!” before the set began, and when the curtain fell revealing intricate decorations and a door center stage, the crowd roared. Cudi opened the door and emerged, welcoming the audience to his mind and jumping right into the show.
It didn’t matter what song Cudi pulled next on his setlist, the crowd cheered at every opening note. Of course, longtime fans were ecstatic to hear the big songs and songs not played in some time. A selection of songs not performed live in years included “Just What I Am” (Indicudi), “T.G.I.F.” (My Name Is Cudi) and “Man On The Moon (The Anthem)” (My Name Is Cudi). The show came to a roaring close with songs like “Memories” and of course “Pursuit of Happiness.”
Kid Cudi is an artist with incredible talent, with some of the biggest hip hop songs that have ever charted. Though he didn’t need to prove himself, he goes above and beyond show just how much of a showman he is and how he can translate his music and stun his audience onstage.
