On Saturday night, singer-songwriter Kevin Garrett brought his heartbreaking songs to Bowery Ballroom in New York City. The sold-out show was the fourth stop on Garrett’s headlining tour, which is his first tour in support of his debut album Hoax, which was released earlier this spring. His performance was flawless – from the setlist to Garrett’s vocals, it was truly a beautiful night. Over the course of the show, Garrett played a perfect mix of songs from Hoax, along with old fan favorites like “Control” and “Precious”. Throughout the set, he told stories from everything about his journey as a musician to the process he went through writing songs for his new album. Before playing “It Don’t Bother Me At All,” he told the audience about his experience performing the song on The Late Show With Stephan Colbert. He even played his own rendition of “Pray You Catch Me,” which is a song he co-wrote for Beyoncè’s album Lemonade.
Garrett’s stage production that accompanied him throughout his performance set the tone and mood perfectly for the audience. It was dark and foggy with bursts of color that appropriately complimented each song he performed. The night was filled beautiful sing-a-longs and lots of emotion, making it a tour that’s worth catching as it ventures across the country.
