After unexpectedly losing her hearing in her right ear, LA based GRAMMY-Award nominated artist K.Flay is turning a new leaf in her life and hitting the ground running with new music and countless upcoming shows.
K.Flay made a stop at New York City’s iconic Webster Hall on Saturday Night, only eight days following her latest single Raw Raw. The new single is her second for new label GIANT Music and the first from a new full-length studio album coming fall 2023.
Raw Raw comes with news of a UK/EU fall headline tour that has K.Flay performing in London, Berlin, Paris, Vienna and beyond and follows a massive US Spring/Summer co-headline tour with grandson –kicking off May 12th in San Diego, CA, and hitting every major city across the country before wrapping on June 29th.
The new tour announcement was an exciting development for K.Flay fans who have been following her health journey. Back in September, fans learned through instagram that K.Flay was losing her hearing in her right ear due to a rare condition called SSNHL (Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss), which also caused her to cancel other touring plans for the fall. Despite this, K.Flay’s resilience is ever present in her reflective lyricism and the electric performance she gave Saturday night. Halfway through her show, she opened up and spoke to the crowd about her struggles. She said, “When you’re inside a big pain, uncertainty, and grief, it is so hard to imagine a future that looks different. Having gone through this, I wanted to be one voice saying that, whatever you’re going through right now, there is a future, it does look different, you can change, the world can change… So whatever you’re in right now, keep going”.
K.Flay has been around for a long time, having started her music career back in 2003 with independent releases that got her signed to RCA records. Since then, she’s had an insane career trajectory ranging from warped tours, appearances on netflix show soundtracks, and GRAMMY nominations. K.Flay continues to forge her own path as a songwriter, producer and singer, and fans will be eagerly awaiting news of her new album.
