With only a handful of singles and an EP, joan continues to take the indie pop scene by storm on their latest tour with Oregon’s own flor.
joan and flor work perfectly on a tour together, and the Portland crowd was in even more agreement. The audience was clearly familiar with the duo, and those that weren’t as familiar left the venue as huge fans. The entire audience danced along to joan’s signature 80’s sound, and many sang along to the group’s breakout songs such as “drive all night,” “love somebody like you” and “take me on.”
The duo is doing what they love and making music the way they want to. Focusing on singles gives them to release music more freely, and focus on individual songs rather than a collection and how they all sound together. It works well for the state of the industry today, with curated and thematic playlists that joan often finds their songs a part of. With songs about love and heartbreak, and a sound that makes you feel like you’re in a John Hughes’ movie, joan is doing all the right things to make them a prominent player in the indie pop genre. It won’t be long until joan is back and headlining their own venues across the nation.
