Eugene, Oregon’s own Michelle Zauner, who performs by the name of Japanese Breakfast, played her largest Oregon venue to date. Fans packed the venue to see what continues to be a high energy and engaging experience, and now will stand as a beloved memory for Zauner. Growing up in Oregon and seeing shows at Portland’s Crystal Ballroom, she can now cross that dream off her list.
From the moment her and her band stepped onto the stage, Zauner was all smiles and set the pace for the remainder of the night. She commanded the stage and attention of the crowd, loving and having visible, genuine fun and she performed and powered through her set. Dancing her way across the stage, watching her fans sing and dance along with her, reaching out and even jumping down into the crowd to further this intimate experience.
The crowd was fully engaged, returning the energy and enthusiasm for Zauner that she was giving off. Many obvious devoted fans over the years, that have been listening to Japanese Breakfast for years and seeing the growth the artist over time. Playing fan favorite songs throughout the set, from “Road Head” and “Machinist” early on to ending with “Dreams” and “Everybody Wants to Love You,” it was a special night for everyone inside Portland’s historic Crystal Ballroom.
