Saturday, May 20, 2023, The Panorama Tour hit Austin, TX and Hayley Kiyoko, the self proclaimed “lesbian Jesus”, took us to church. After touring in Europe, Kiyoko took to stages across North America to perform hits from her sophomore album Panorama. Her Texas stop marks halfway through the American leg of the tour, which concludes June 2nd in Maryland.
For this show, Kiyoko had two supporting acts, ill peach and Allison Ponthier. Other cities’ supporting acts include Emmy Meli, Katherine Li, and Madame Gandhi.
There was a bit of a mix up at the beginning of Kiyoko’s set here in Austin. She performed the first few bars of “Found My Friends”, but something wasn’t right. Making eyes with her drummer, she stopped the show. She said there was a technical difficulty, and she was going to try again. Kiyoko then left the stage for about five minutes, leaving the crowd confused, but then the bass started back up, the lights dimmed, and her visualizer started displaying art once again. Kiyoko ran back out on stage, starting her set over again from scratch. She wanted to do it right and knew the audience deserved to see her at her best.
If you’re looking for a high energy, queer-friendly, all around good time, Hayley Kiyoko’s Panorama Tour is for you. Her and two backup dancers were absolutely mesmerizing. The sexual tension between the three of them on stage kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
In addition to the dancing, she performed hits like “For the Girls”, “Sugar at the Bottom”, and even one from her Disney days, “Determinate” from 2011 made for TV movie Lemonade Mouth. Kiyoko performed a new song as well, “Green Light” which is set to release tomorrow, Wednesday the 24th of May.
The Panorama Tour continues through North America with dates in Canada and the East Coast through the beginning of June. For more information, visit https://www.hayleykiyokoofficial.com/.
