The boys of flor from Hood River, Oregon, return home to Portland to play a set on their opening run with Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. The tour stopped in Portland’s Roseland Theater. According to flor’s Zach Grace, the only other time the band had played the venue was years ago for a battle of the bands event. This time, the group was greeted with open arms to their hometown show, with plenty of their own fans throughout McMahon’s the crowd.
flor took advantage of the time given and made the show their own. Everyone throughout the crowd was fully engaged, and gave back the energy the band was giving off. In the front few rows many members of the audience could be heard singing their lyrics back to the band, and murmurs could be heard from others who weren’t familiar with flor but pleasantly surprised. It already felt like a hometown show, but the Roseland Theater was full of love and flor left the theater with even more fans than they already had. flor packed in as much of their music as they could, opening with the newly re-released “get behind this,” playing as much of their album come out, you’re hiding as possible, while squeezing in their newest single “slow motion.”
flor is one of the most genuine bands out there, who love that they have the opportunity to do what they do and love their fans. They’re a band that gives off some of the most contagious onstage energy, as each member smiles and moves constantly throughout their set. flor is an absolute treat to see live, and will without a doubt return to these same venues visited with Andrew McMahon – but next time headlining their own tour.
