Cosmic rock trio DREAMERS graced Austin fans with an electric set on September 18, 2018 at Stubb’s Indoors. Hailing from all across the U.S., but forming their existence as a band in Brooklyn, the three piece performed a mix of new and old songs to a crowd that had already been pumped with energy from the opening acts and were ready for more. DREAMERS did not disappoint opening their set with “SCREWS” and “Misfits T-Shirt,” which are freshly off their latest EP, FLY. As an ode to one of their musical influences, the band threw in a more upbeat rendition of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Bullet with Butterfly Wings.” Entwined with their newer releases following a two year non-stop touring stunt, were songs off their 2016 album, This Album Does Not Exist. Songs reminiscent of nights staying out too late with friends and getting a little too high were old hits “Sweet Disaster” and “DRUGS.”
Fans of all ages were enthusiastically pleased when the colorful night was sealed with DREAMERS’ angst-filled hit, “Wolves (You Got Me).” Lead singer Nick Wold ended the night by teasing the ever-so-wanting crowd with a touch of his guitar but pulled it back at the last moment and placed it safely back on stage. No one walked away with a new guitar that night, but it’s safe to say everyone walked away with smiles on their faces and ringing in their ears. DREAMERS’ 2018 Fall Tour comes rapidly off the heels from the release of their second installment from a three-part series of EP’s set to finish in 2019.
