Donna Missal brought her infectious hybrid of bluesy-R&B-Pop to Bowery Ballroom in New York City last night and she didn’t disappoint. Performing to a sold out crowd, Missal brought the heat on a cold February night. She performed songs from her debut album This Time, which was released last fall via Harvest Records. Missal’s soulful vocals rang throughout the venue, and truly had the crowd in their feelings. She hung on every lyric as if it was her last, and really transported the audience to another place. The energy she brought, especially during songs like “Transformer,” “Jupiter,” and “Keep Lying”, was unparalleled. It was a beautiful hurricane of love, emotions, and dancing. For the encore, Missal and her brother (who also serves as her guitar player), came out and played an epic cover of “Complicated” by: Avril Lavigne, that left the crowd reeling as they left the venue.
It was clear to the crowd at Bowery Ballroom that Donna Missal is not to be messed with. In a city where it can be so hard to feel like you’re being seen, she made sure the audience knew who she was and that they would never forget her undeniable talent.
