In support of their fifth album Head Over Heels, Canadian funk duo Chromeo took over Eugene’s famous McDonald Theater on Thursday night. This marked the duo’s first Eugene show in a number of years, and the crowd was clearly excited to see them again, as they excitedly chanted the duo’s name as soon as the lights dimmed. Once Chromeo took the stage, it became nearly impossible not to be swept up in their colorful lights, funky tunes, and immeasurable passion. The intro of their track “Count Me Out” seems to sum up their live show perfectly: “Y’all keep this funky s**t going man, ’cause you know, at the end of the day, when we die, we all gon’ stink. Funk forever, mothaf**ka.”
The set included notable songs such as the robotic “Night by Night”, the glitzy “Juice”, and of course, the disco-drenched “Jealous (I Ain’t With It)”. It seemed as though the duo was insistent on making every second of the show as fun and memorable as possible, with an atmosphere where the crowd could let loose to funky electro jam after funky electro jam. Safe to say that Chromeo puts on one heck of a show, and one that Eugene won’t soon forget. Check out some photos from the show below!
