Coming off the release of her sophomore album, When I Close My Eyes, Chelsea Cutler stopped in Oakland to deliver a special performance to her devoted fans.
Fans new they were in for a treat the second the lights dimmed. The huge stage made up of LED screens began to glow and display fields of Sunflowers. Finally, Chelsea Cutler and her band took the stage and the show began. Huge sounds vibrated the venue, blinding lights danced across the crowds faces as they sang their hearts out with Chelsea Cutler, and Cutler commanded the attention of everyone running constantly across the stage.
After the first few songs Cutler paused the show to tell a story of a past show that started a new tradition. In a past show a fan front row had a sign that read “Can I play with your sound pad?” and was invited on stage to help perform a song. Since then a fan has been invited on stage and join the band for a song. Cutler picked out a fan to help perform “Cold Showers” and both her and the crowd repeatedly called out her name and encouraged her. It was a huge moment for the crowd and the fan herself, and is just one example of the special relationship Chelsea Cutler and her fans share.
Cutler was sure to play songs from each of her releases to make sure all fan favorites were covered. The most impressive part of the night though, came from the performance of her new and unreleased track “Men on the Moon.” The song was first teased on Tik Tok, and prior to the show the stage was lit up with a QR code to pre-save the song with a link to lyrics. When she got to this point in the setlist, the crowd screamed and to her surprise knew most, if not all, the words.
The entire night was a huge show and spectacle. Oakland marked the near end of the tour, but with the new track and tour wrapping up it makes it exciting to see what would be next for Chelsea Cutler.
