On the first of October, indie-pop duo Cafuné performed their first ever show in Portland. Sedona Schat and Noah Yoo – who created Cafuné back in 2014 after meeting at New York University – blew up on TikTok earlier this year with their infectious track “Tek It” and have recently join CHVRCHES on the latest leg of the Screen Violence tour. They released their debut album Running last year and are finally getting the chance to perform it live across North America.
The band paints a picture of nostalgia with their music; Sedona’s voice sweeps over fuzzy guitars and dreamy grooves that are utterly inescapable. “Tek It” is a perfect example of this with its shoegaze influence and added auto tune in the final chorus that gives the track its distinct edge. When Cafuné took the stage in Portland, they filled the Roseland with good vibes and even better tunes. They played mostly standouts from Running like “Reconsider”, “Empty Tricks”, and of course, “Tek It” and were captivating from start to finish. They were the perfect way to start the night and we’re so happy we caught their first ever show in Portland! Check out some photos from the show below and click here to see their future tour dates.
