American Indie pop duo and Tik Tok sensation Cafuné closed out their first headline tour in New York City at the Bowery Ballroom on Tuesday night. The show was sold out, and the band graciously thanked the crowd as they celebrated not only the end of their tour, but the fact that they get to sleep in their own beds from now on in New York.
Lead singer Sedona Schat touched upon the meaning of her favorite songs and opened up about struggles like hiding her sexuality in the past and feeling lost. Her relatability is ever present in her lyricism and emotion while performing, and the crowd went crazy to songs like “Everyone Knows” and “Reconsider”. Sedona sang into a snazzy looking dual microphone setup, one set with an autotune flare that made her voice reverberate off the walls of the ballroom in the best of ways. Noah Yoo, the band’s lead guitarist, head banged the night away and was all smiles throughout the whole set. Watching Noah and Sedona perform together is utterly mesmerizing as you can feel their chemistry and pure bliss while on stage.
Although duo Noah Yoo and Sedona Schat have been making music together for over a decade, it wasn’t until three years ago that they started getting the recognition they deserved. Thanks to Tik Tok, in the midst of quarantine their song “Tek It” became a viral hit and skyrocketed the band into stardom. They haven’t looked back since.
