The night of Bishop Briggs in Austin, Texas was definitely one to remember. The venue was filled for the opening act and only grew fuller as the night continued. The opening act, Donna Missal took the stage and the night officially begun for another live event in the Live Music Capital of the World.
For many non-Texans it may come as a surprise that Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World. This event in particular was an official Austin City Limits (ACL) Fest Late Night Show scheduled to happen after the festival’s Weekend One and before Weekend Two. Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival is one of the reasons Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World. With over 200 live music venues, you can catch a show any day at almost anytime in the city.
Bishop Briggs was scheduled to perform at both weekends for Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival ACL Festival. Though the stages were both very different since one was indoors and another outdoors, Briggs owned the stage at Emo’s and gave it her all, clearly not making her performance any less because of the size of the venue. Briggs took the stage with her song The Way I Do and continued her set with her setlist including hits Wild Horses, Dark Side, White Flag, and her new song Baby.
Throughout the entire night Briggs jumped, danced, smiled and got teary eyed. She stated she was very excited to be in Austin, spoke about how she wanted to help others feel empowered and the crowd could see it in her performance. Near the end of her performance Briggs told the crowd she had two songs left but wanted to add another. Briggs claimed, “This doesn’t happen every night.” Although Briggs’ set was not very long, she ended the night with her song River and an overall feel of empowerment.
