After their first album in five years, Best Coast started their tour at the Novo in Los Angeles this past Friday night. “Always Tomorrow” is an incredibly intimate look into Cosentino’s life and offers a look into what the past five years have been like for her. The indie rock outfit are not new to the scene however have turned a new leaf and found a newer mature sound on the new album. Cosentino even jokingly tweeted this past month that “there are approximately 0 songs about California on the new record” in response to a Hard Times article. The band pleased old and new fans alike with a setlist spanning their entire discography, beginning with moody title track off of their last album “California Nights”. Classic hits like “The Only Place” blended perfectly with new fan favorites like “Graceless Kids”. The band left everyone feeling ok with an uplifting message in place of the spoken part of the new track proclaiming that if you don’t have a significant other, you should learn to love yourself.
