For his first night of his first ever headlining tour, Bazzi kicked off this unforgettable Cosmic Tour at Portland’s Roseland Theater. Though there was no opening act, and his debut album Cosmic is his only release so far, he made sure to give Portland everything he had for the hour he was onstage.
The set production on this tour is astounding. Center stage stands a large LED star with surrounding lights, and beside the star are two large LED monitor. Lights surrounded and were constantly flashing around Bazzi as various visuals were displayed on the monitors. Rose petals at one point in the show rained down on Bazzi, and for his song “Fantasy” a keyboard and crescent moon was brought out for the artist to perform a stripped down version of the song.
The crowd excitement for Bazzi was obvious, as the Portland audience sang along and screamed consistently while the artist performed. Of course, nothing compared to his closing song “Mine.” A song made popular on the internet, and now a radio hit, the crowd erupted when Bazzi returned to the stage for this encore. After performing the song in full, Bazzi climbed onto an amp and instructed the audience to re-sing the first verse and chorus with him without backing instruments.
With natural stage command and a smooth voice, Bazzi isn’t going anywhere but higher in the music world. So early on in his career the breakout R&B artist shows a lot of talent and promise, and will become a major contributor to the music charts.
