Alexander 23 took New York City by storm on Tuesday night. Playing for a sold-out crowd at Terminal 5 seemed second nature to him. After playing a solid set that was fully-equipped with songs like “The Internet,” “Sad,” “Dirty AF1s,” and his newest singled “I Hate You So Much” it was hard for the crowd to not fall in love with Alexander 23 and his music.
The energy coming from Alexander 23 and his drummer was unwavering for the entirety of his set. From the second he stepped on stage until he sang the last notes of the final song, his gratitude for the audience always came through. The genuine honesty he exudes through his alt-pop songs came through in every song he played during his set. The audience was able to feel every emotion and feel every ounce of honesty that’s laced through his songs. One was even able to feel the emotionality Alexander 23 constantly exudes in his music when he surprised the crowd with a cover of Miley Cyrus’ hit song “Party In The U.S.A.”.
His buttery singing voice paired with funky drum beats and tracks sets him apart from others in the alt-pop space, which only proves that Alexander 23 is ready for the world to know his name. While he was only opening for Chelsea Cutler on Tuesday, his performance made it clear to the audience that he will find himself headlining the stage at Terminal 5 (and many others like it) in due time. The connection he was able to make with the audience throughout his set was magical, and that kind of immediate connection is sure to catapult him into stardom in the future.
