There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the 5 Seconds of Summer shows at Pier 17 this past week. The last time I saw them perform was in 2018, so I was greatly looking forward to seeing how they’ve changed, hearing their new music, etc. I was lucky enough to be able to attend both nights of their tour in NYC, and even that was not enough time to see such a great band! Being a 5SOS fan since I was around 14 created such an excitement and eagerness in me and I felt like I was back in my teen years listening to my favorite 5SOS songs again. All four 5SOS boys, Luke, Ashton, Calum, and Michael, have such a captivating stage presence that cannot be matched. From seeing them open up for One Direction back in 2014, to watching them own their own headlining shows with immense confidence is so great to witness and the progress they’ve all made as individuals and as a band is something to be SO proud of. Luke’s front man energy, Michael’s interaction with the fans, Calum’s amazing solos, and Ashton’s powerful drumming performance is something I will never get tired of seeing. A highlight of the performance was hearing the transition they created between their songs “Easier” and “More”. Such a seamless switch between songs, and it made for such a wonderful performance. It was great to be back in the atmosphere of a 5 Seconds of Summer show, and I wish I could’ve gone to many more! Will never get tired of seeing those talented guys.
