Imagine seeing your favorite band live. The lights go down, your arms covered in goosebumps and finally, they take the stage. Sometimes this happens in an arena, a small bar or even a small club.
When 5 Seconds of Summer announced 5SOS III, a unique shorter tour that played much smaller venues than they have in the past, we knew that we were about to experience something incredible.
On Monday, April 16th, fans started lining up at 3 or 4 a.m., waiting to be at the barricade to see Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, and Michael Clifford, otherwise a band they know as 5 Seconds of Summer. Carrying blankets, posters for the band and even flowers to give to the band, fans were ready when the lights finally went dark at the House of Blues in Chicago.
Immediately kicking it off with “She Looks So Perfect,” the energy inside the venue was incredible. From arms in the air to crying tears of joy, 5SOS were truly a force to be reckoned with on Monday. Bouncing into a couple of new tracks from their upcoming album, Youngblood, 5SOS’ enthusiasm for the tracks created an almost electric feeling within the venue. Sometimes when an artist or band performs a new track from their set, audience members take that time to grab merch, run to the restroom or even send a quick tweet. However, for 5 Seconds of Summer, fans already knew the words to the new tracks in anticipation of finally having a studio version.
