After selling out at the Pageant and moving her tour to outdoor amphitheaters over safety concerns, Phoebe Bridgers opened The Phoebe Bridgers Reunion Tour to an even bigger sold out crowd in St. Louis, Missouri on September 3rd, 2021. This tour marks the first time Punisher, the latest album from Phoebe released last year, was heard live.
Opening the night with “Motion Sickness,” indie singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers and her band took the stage all dressed in skeleton jumpsuits, the same as Phoebe is seen wearing on the Punisher album art. The last time Phoebe Bridgers played a headlining show in St. Louis was in 2018 at a 340-capacity venue: Friday she took the stage to greet the 4,000 people that had come to see her at the Chesterfield Amphitheater. Despite the last minute venue change and potential inclement weather, the evening turned out to be cool and clear, with the gentle ballads of Punisher filling the amphitheater. The night ended with her encore of a cover song from one of this year’s popular Netflix comedy specials, a somewhat surprising but definitely fitting close to the evening.
