We all know that 5 Seconds of Summer is making moves every day – between signing to a new label, releasing Charlie Puth collaborations and more.
In honor of the band that we all know and love, we decided to look back on some of the band’s best moments.
1. The Early Days of 5SOS
Before they were touring the world and gaining international fame, Calum, Luke and Michael were just regular teenagers posting covers and funny videos on YouTube. Even though this cover was pre-Ashton, their vocals and acoustics (not to mention their teenage emo hair) gave us major feels.
2. Their First Explosive Single, “Out of My Limit”
After its release in late 2012, the video for “Out of My Limit” really launched 5 Seconds of Summer into popularity. While most of their early covers earned a few thousand views, this video gained millions of views and has over 14 million today. “Out of My Limit” was also surely helpful in securing a spot touring with One Direction.
3. The Evolution of Michael’s Hair
This might not really be a “moment,” but it’s definitely iconic. Our personal favorite is the Reverse Skunk look.
4. “She Looks So Perfect” Music Video
Whether you were a fan before this or not, you have to admit that this music video was a game-changer. This song is pop-punk perfection, and the chorus is just so catchy. Plus, the clips of Luke, Michael, Calum and Ashton jamming in an alley with scenes of everyday people dancing around in their underwear is infectious. Not to mention, we were all a little excited when the boys started to strip down right before the video cut out.
5. “She’s Kinda Hot”
This song was relatable for basically every member of the 5SOS fandom and anyone who doesn’t always feel accepted. Our favorite lyric? “We are the kings and the queens of the new broken scene, yeah, we’re alright though…”
