Award season is in the air. The 43rd American Music Awards will be broadcasted on November 22 with performances from One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Walk The Moon, and many more. Taylor Swift leads with the most nominations this year including Artist of the year.
There will be cheers and upsets, so here are our predictions in the major categories: Artist of The Year, Song of the Year, Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock, Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock, Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock, Favorite Album – Pop/Rock.
Artist of the Year
• Sam Smith
• Taylor Swift
• Meghan Trainor
• The Weeknd
• One Direction
• Luke Bryan
• Ariana Grande
• Maroon 5
• Nicki Minaj
• Ed Sheeran
Who will win: Let’s get one thing straight, all these artists nominated should just get this award, but unfortunately only one can win and it’s going to be based on popularity…sadly. Taylor Swift has a very loyal fan base, but so does One Direction. Swift may win or One Direction because again whoever wins it’s based on popularity since the AMAs are counted on votes from the public.
Who should win: Tough question since the AMAs are based on public votes, however it would be nice to see Maroon 5 take home the award. Maroon 5 doesn’t get the praise or appreciation they deserve, but they too have a very loyal fan base. You can thank Adam Levine for that.
Song of the Year
• “See You Again” – Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth
• “Uptown Funk” – Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars
• “Thinking Out Loud” – Ed Sheeran
• “Blank Space” – Taylor Swift
• “Can’t Feel My Face” – The Weeknd
Who will win: Tough call, tough call. All these songs were some of the biggest hits this year and sort of still are. We think Taylor Swift may win this one. Why you ask? Again Swifties are extremely loyal and they want to make sure their idol takes home this award, but not just that whether you are a fan of Taylor Swift or not, you know you love “Blank Space” and you probably have downloaded to your music library.
Who should win: Swift isn’t the only artist, who had a good year, Ed Sheeran had hit and a awesome music video this year for “Thinking Out Loud”. This song also got some major airplay on the radio and it’s also a song that everyone liked, not just the fan base.
Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock
• Nick Jonas
• Ed Sheeran
• Sam Smith
Who will win: Let me just say that, all three of these guys are good looking and all three of them had a good year. Sam Smith may just take this award home, because he’s Sam Smith. He has an incredible voice and not to mention he recorded a song for the new James Bond movie.
Who should win: Nick Jonas’ solo career is going strong and he has definitely broke out of his Jonas Brothers phase for sure. It would be nice to see Jonas take home this award, because he has always had passion as a music artist and he shows that passion as a successful solo artist.
Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock
• Ariana Grande
• Taylor Swift
• Meghan Trainor
Who will win and Who should win: Showdown! These lovely ladies have fans that love them and we are not exactly sure how this is going to go down. In conclusion, any of these women could win this award, but since the award is based on public votes, Taylor Swift may be taking one of her many trips to the stage to accept this award.
Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock
• Maroon 5
• One Direction
• Walk The Moon
Who will win: Directioners get ready for a possible celebration! One Direction may walk away with an award before their break/vacation. That would be awesome for both the guys and the fans. You know for a fact that Directioners are going to make sure they boys will win this one.
Who should win: Calm down, now we love One Direction, but we also love Walk The Moon. They might not win this one, but it’s possible they may win Favorite Alternative Rock Artist. However they may not win that either. Well they are performing at least and they also got nominated which is something to be proud of.
Favorite Album – Pop/Rock
• Ed Sheeran “X”
• Sam Smith “In The Lonely Hour”
• Taylor Swift “1989”
Who will win: Taylor Swift could be taking this home as well. She had a very successful year with 1989 and that’s something we can’t deny. Fans will make sure she takes home this award for sure.
