Fresh off of her worldwide Spring Breakers movie promo, Selena Gomez appears ready to switch back over from film to music once again, with the upcoming release of “Come & Get It”, her first single from her forthcoming 4th record, out sometime this summer. The song was written by Ester Dean and produced by Stargate, who has worked with big names like: Katy Perry, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, and Beyonce. The cover artwork was slowly revealed on Gomez’s Facebook, and if the final product is any indication of the tune, it seems like we’re going to be hearing something different from the Disney actress. Come & Get It will be premiered April 8th during Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, before hitting iTunes for digital purchase. Six days later, the song will be performed for the very first time at the MTV Movie Awards on the 14th.
“It is my first performance back as a musician,” she told MTV News. “I’m so nervous! I think it’s really cool, ’cause I got to take a year off of music and really be a part of great movies and work with great people, so I thought it would be perfect that I kind of go into music again through MTV and then the Movie Awards. So I thought it would be appropriate. I’m so stoked!” Come & Get It will also be performed on The Ellen Show the following Tuesday (4/16). Selena’s fast approaching solo LP marks the 20-year-old’s first musical foray since her 2011 effort “When the Sun Goes Down”, this time without her band counterpart, The Scene. Gomez has spent the downtime taking on acting projects such as “The Getaway” and “Hotel Transylvania.” Gomez is expected to be announcing international touring plans shortly and is slated to perform at the Radio Disney Music Awards at L.A. Live’s Nokia Theatre on Apr. 27.
