Wrapped up in three minutes and twenty seconds of an admittedly depressing story line, the video for “Call Come Running” is the sequel to “You Can’t Look Back,” off of Taking Back Sunday‘s latest album, Tidal Wave (2016).
You can’t help but feel bad for the guy as he staggers through the neighborhood, his bloody face and clothes and generally disheveled appearance a stark contrast to the respectable atmosphere of his surroundings. Even as he comes into contact with passerby, they don’t seem to see him, walking past him as if he doesn’t exist, even as he stumbles directly into their path. Help finally arrives in the form of a kind elderly man who helps the broken stranger into his home.
With a surprising twist to help wrap up the unanswered questions left behind by “You Can’t Look Back,” the video for “Call Come Running” reaches its heartwarming ending on a more hopeful note for our previously helpless friend.
Tidal Wave was released via Hopeless Records.
