Last week, Beyond The Stage gave you the best of New Music Tuesday. There’s great music released every week, though, and we don’t want you to miss out. That’s why from now on, we’re going to post a weekly playlist letting you know our favorite new releases.
This week has been great for funky, upbeat music. Passion Pit’s new album came out on April 17th, and it is amazing. Give “My Brother Taught Me How to Swim” a listen. Or just go ahead and give the whole album a listen; it’s definitely worth it.
Air Traffic Controller released a new single, “People Watching.” The music is almost magical sounding, with a mix of deep, strong beats and rich effects, resulting in an incredibly catchy song.
You probably know HOLYCHILD from the Apple Watch commercial but they’re much more than that one song. “Money All Around” is haunting and will make you want to dance at the same time.
San Fermin’s “Jackrabbit,” the title track off their new album, focuses on Charlene Kaye’s clear, melodic voice and instrumentals that will give you chills. This album is their first since 2013 and it does not disappoint.
“Never Be The Same” is a song off Built To Spill’s new album Untethered Moon. The bass and guitar work creates a melody that you’ll want to blast in your car with the windows down, regardless of its mellowness. Night Beds’ song “Tide Teeth” is a similar type of song; slow, but with beautiful layers added throughtout it.
April is a great month for new albums, and Alabama Shakes is part of that reason. Sound & Color is the perfect album to kick off the summer; we recommend listening to “Shoegaze.”
Panic! At The Disco is back with their single “Hallelujah.” They’re like wine; they get better with age. Brandon continues to speak to our pop punk souls just like he has for years.
And now for the most exciting news of all: Brand New is back for the first time since 2009 with their new single “Mene.” Their music is as electric as it has always been, filled with energy and angsty lyrics. They’ve been making music for 14 years and we hope they don’t stop anytime soon.
