This week’s New Music Monday is a British girl group (no, not the Spice Girls) who sing catchy, empowering pop music (still not the Spice Girls) and won Season 8 of The X Factor (see, it’s not the Spice Girls). Little Mix was enormously popular when they were on the show (as evidenced by the fact that they won the whole thing) and they have managed to transition that success on TV to success on the charts. This fearsome foursome has built a reputation of writing all of their own songs and singing soulful, empowering pop music that now sees the group in its fourth year.
Why is Little Mix our New Music Monday?
Though they have been around for four years and are incredibly popular in the UK, they are still struggling to have a huge hit in the US. This is a shame, because despite the fact that they were put together on The X Factor, they have been making music that consistently pushes boundaries of genre and style and sets trends all over the industry. There is no weak link in the group and with each album they become more and more sure of who they are as artists. If “Black Magic” is any indication of what is to come, then their next album is poised to be a huge hit in the States.
Check out this playlist below of Little Mix’s biggest hits, most interesting album tracks, the Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea duet that they wrote, and “Black Magic”.
