Happy New Music Friday, friends! This week brings some great jams from Noah Cyrus, Arctic Monkeys, John Mayer and so many others. We managed to narrow it down to our top ten favorites from this week. Check them out below!
Top 10 Singles for the Week of May 11, 2018:
1. “New Light” – John Mayer
John Mayer wants you to see him in a New Light through a soft pop track that oozes with redemption.
2. “Girls” (feat. Cardi B, Bebe Rexha & Charlie XCX) – Rita Ora
Four of our absolute favorites all on one track? Yes, please! This R&B and influenced track talks ditching dudes and kissing girls.
3.“This is America” – Childish Gambino
A powerful new track from Childish Gambino that is accompanied by a moving music video focused on the gun control issues in present day America.
4. “Team” – Noah Cyrus & MAX
Two BTS cover stars tangle their vocals together sweetly creating a dreamy ballad. This is the perfect team, if you ask us.
5.“Four Out Of Five” Arctic Monkeys
One of our favorite bands dropped a new album today (it’s amazing, in case you were wondering) and this track is definitely a highlight from it and adds a dreamy sound to the typical Arctic Monkeys sound we know and love.
6. “Back To You” – Selena Gomez
From the 13 Reasons Why: Season 2 soundtrack, producer Selena Gomez strips back most of her usual pop production and leaves us with a raw take and showcases just all she can do vocally on this emotional song.
7. “Twice” – Christina Aguilera
New week, new single from the queen Christina. On this track, she opens with a large harmony that slowly melts into a raw single vocal that has reminiscent sounds of “Hurt.”
8. “Quarter Past Midnight” – Bastille
An immediate opening that draws you into a story of a Bonnie & Clyde-esque adventure with a beat that parallels the freeing feeling they describe in the track.
9. “Ohio” – Andrew McMahon In the Wilderness
The story of leaving a loved place behind in hopes of a fresh start. The great slow pop-rock sound that Andrew McMahon In the Wilderness is known for that only adds to this heart-tugging song.
10. “Rocket Girl” (feat. Betty Who) – Lemaitre
A dance-worthy track with heavy EDM influences and a beat that will get you dancing in no time thanks to strong vocals from the wonderful Betty Who.
