It’s New Music Friday and this week’s guide is full of great new tracks from Nick Jonas, David Guetta, Maisie Peters and more! See the full guide below.
Top 10 New Music Friday Singles for the Week of February 26, 2021:
1. “Spaceman” – Nick Jonas
Nick Jonas shocked fans earlier this week when he announced on socials that not only would he be dropping a new solo single, he would also be hosting and performing on SNL. The track shows clear growth from his previous solo work and talks of feeling like a spaceman in our currently daily lives at this moment in time.
2. “New Ceilings” – Dava
A modern pop track that still offers individuality and an exciting vocal that will have you hooked from the very beginning. The song is all about exploring new places as a way to fix things and well, as a way out.
3. “I Can’t Get High” – Royal & the Serpent
A dark and haunting track that talks of a heartbreak that is so intense it feels impossible to even find something to help you cope.
4. “John Hughes Movie” – Maisie Peters
Pop singer-songwriter Maisie Peters returns with a track that talks of movies versus reality. Sadly, not every person will give you that John Hughes movie feel, and if they don’t Peters says, “they’re not the one.”
5. “Pontiac” – Mat Kearney
Mat Kearney has always been a great storyteller in his music, but this track takes it even further. It talks of younger days, with flip phones, a Pontiac and a desire for adventure all set to a sweet, melodic tune that you’ll catch yourself singing along to after just a couple of listens.
6. “The Risk” – Life On Eris
Pop-country at its finest. This track tells a sweet story of a couple deciding to jump into a relationship even when it could be trouble. The result is a song that features that classic country story-telling ability with the melody of a beautiful pop track.
7. “21st Birthday” – Dasha
A sad, singer-songwriter masterpiece. This track talks of the most important person not showing up on the one day it mattered most and dealing with loneliness when it should be one of the highlights of life.
8. “What They’ll Say About Us (re-imagined)” – FINNEAS, Until The Ribbon Breaks
A new take on FINNEAS classic. This track transforms the raw, singer-songwriter style of the original and gives it a breath of new life. The opening of the track talks about Civil Rights which is a perfect beginning to this track. It’s exciting and inspiring; everything a good cover should be.
9. “Rain On My Parade” – Command Sisters
A definitive, hard-hitting track that overflows with edginess and angst. The vocals are intricate and interesting throughout the entirety of the song and show off just what these sisters can do.
10. “Bed” – Joel Corry, RAYE & David Guetta
A feel-good track that is an EDM jewel. With an infectious beat and danceable sound, it talks of giving up just about anything – sleep, time and even your side of the bed to be with the right person making it a standout on our list this week.
