A late New Music Friday post to help you get you in to the weekend mood! Check out all of our favorites from this week from The Wrecks, Khalid, Muse and more!
Top 5 Albums for the Week of February 16, 2018:
1. Panic Vertigo EP – The Wrecks
The long-awaited EP is here and it’s a pop rock dream. With heavy riffs and infectious lyrics, it’s clear this is the beginning of something big for The Wrecks.
2. Twin Fantasy – Car Seat Headrest
Where alternative and indie meet. This record is a collection of raw, heart-tugging tracks that is the perfect soundtrack for the local café.
3. Pop Evil – Pop Evil
A refreshing take on rock music thanks to metal and synth influences that bring together the best sound Pop Evil has tackled yet.
4. If There Is Light It Will Find You – Senses Fail
Longtime Senses Fail fans will be obsessed with this reminiscent release. Complete with early 2000’s pop punk influences, this will take listeners back to where the band began.
5. By The Way , I Forgive You – Brandi Carlile
Genre blending at its finest. A beautiful mix of country and rock that compliments the vocal talent. Perfect for a relaxing night in.
Top 5 Singles for the Week of February 16, 2018:
1. “Love Lies” – Khalid & Normani
Straight from the Love, Simon movie soundtrack, this synth heavy track will be blasting over your air waves in no time. The two vocals of these talented artists take this song to the next level.
2. “Thought Contagion” – Muse
The newest single from our favorite alt-rockers proves to show a different side of the group. An R&B influenced beat and a loosely rap chorus showcases just what these guys can do.
3. “Getting Over You” – Lauv
The newest installment from the “I Met You When We Were 18” era shows the light at the end of the tunnel–getting over the one you thought you never would.
4. “Moon River” – Frank Ocean
A cover from the old classic, (you’ve probably heard Audrey Hepburn sing it in Breakfast At Tiffany’s!) showcases Frank Ocean’s voice beautifully. Definitely a different, but great step for him!
5. “Faded Love” – Tinashe (feat. Future)
Contemporary R&B perfection. Tinashe’s breathy vocal is intoxicating and Future’s verse adds even more to an already splendid track.
