Happy New Music Friday everyone! It’s officially the last Friday of the month and oh wow, this week has been crazy busy with new music releases. From the iconic duo of The Weeknd and Ariana Grande to Gracie Abrams to Kali Uchis, here is a list of songs that you need to have playing on repeat this weekend.
Gracie Abrams – “I know it won’t work”
“I know it won’t work” gives listeners their first glimpse into Gracie Abrams’s debut album Good Riddance. The song is all about wanting someone back but knowing that it won’t work out. It features sultry vocals and soft beats that add to the heartbreak of the song. The artist, best known for her songs “I miss you, I’m sorry,” “Stay” and “21” will be going on tour across North America and Europe this summer.
The Band CAMINO – “Told You So”
An arena-sized rock anthem with heavy-hitting hooks, fiery riffs and an instantly memorable chorus, The Band CAMINO delivers another hard-hitting single. After the debut of their self-titled album and their successful tour across North America, the trio released a new single to usher their listeners into a new era of sound. And because of this, the band will be going overseas to perform all across Europe on their brand-new tour.
mazie – “are you feeling it right now”
Today is just full of debut albums! Rising pop-artist mazie shares her ambitious debut album, blotter baby, along with a trippy music video for track five of the album “are you feeling it now.” The album, blotter baby, plays around with coming-of-age ideas and how difficult it can be to navigate sexuality and relationships. The track serves bubblegum pop realness mixed with a psychedelic rock influence, and couldn’t be a more perfect debut for mazie.
Renee Rapp – “Bruises”
Broadway star turned pop star, Renee Rapp has officially dropped the deluxe version of her EP Everything To Everyone, featuring the new track “Bruises.” A song all about taking negative comments and jokes personally from friends, Rapp outdoes herself in writing about the pain that lingers on from comments like these: “All my friends make sweet fun of me/But the truth’s I bruise easily.”
Andrew McMahon – “Nobody Tells You When You’re Young”
As he prepares to release his new album, Tilt At The Wind No More, next month, veteran indie-pop singer-songwriter-pianist Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness has released the piano ballad “Nobody Tells You When You’re Young” as one more offering from the upcoming collection. “‘Nobody Tells You When You’re Young’ is about how the most important lessons in life are often unteachable,” according to McMahon. This piano ballad will have your heartstrings pulled and actually make you excited to cry.
Love You Later – “Girl With Headphones”
Love You Later — the project of Nashville-based artist and songwriter Lexi Aviles — is back today with “Girl With Headphones,” the first single from her upcoming EP, From The Window Seat, which comes out May 5. With “Girl With Headphones,” Love You Later makes an effortlessly cool alt-pop statement. It opens with a pulsing fuzzy synth arp before bursting with sweetness with Lexi’s dreamy vocals. Almost like something from a coming-of-age film, this song has a cinematic and nostalgic feel.
Nicky Youre– “Shut Me Up”
Best known for the viral TikTok song “Sunroof,” Nicky Youre is back with his new single “Shut Me Up.” A love song that is all about one overthinking and needing someone to kiss them to shut them up, Youre brings upbeat sounds and light-hearted lyrics to his listeners. The music video is incredibly vibrant and serves coming-of-age realness, and will definitely have you singing and dancing to this song.
Phabo– “Out of Touch ft. Shaé Universe”
Having just completed COLORS and a sold-out headline tour, Los Angeles-based R&B singer Phabo is returning today with his first release of the year, “Out of Touch,” featuring UK-based Nigerian R&B artist Shaé Universe. “Out of Touch” features incredibly dreamy vocals between the two of them and is the perfect embodiment of the R&B sound.
Kali Uchis– “Moonlight”
“Moonlight” is the latest single from Kali Uchis’ upcoming album Red Moon In Venus. This sultry song is all about vibing and chilling with those closest to her: “I just wanna get high with my lover/Veo una muñeca cuando miro en el espejo,” Uchis sings in both English and Spanish. “Kiss kiss, looking dolly I/Think I may go out tonight/I just wanna ride, get high in the moonlight.
The Weeknd & Ariana Grande– “Die For You (Remix)”
When Ariana Grande teased on her Instagram that she wrote and recorded a verse for a friend after a long 14-hour set day, fans quickly speculated that the friend was long-time collaborator The Weeknd. “Die For You,” a song off The Weeknd’s Starboy album had been trending on TikTok for quite some time, so the hype around this song was only amplified when Ariana Grande was added to the mix. The two have collaborated on previous songs like “Love Me Harder,” “off the table” and “Save Your Tears.”
