Live shows are slowly coming back and we couldn’t be more excited. In honor of National Concert Week we wanted to share some of our staff’s favorite concerts we’ve attended.
- Thirty Seconds to Mars Halloween Costume Ball – 10/30/2014
The energy at this show was insane. Thirty Seconds to Mars has some serious fans and the show was at a GA venue which gave everyone a chance to dance their hearts out and scream along to all the songs. There weren’t any openers and the band played for longer than they typically do. Overall it was one of my most memorable concert experiences and it’ll always be one of my favorites. – Marissa Sandoval, Project Manager
- Jonas Brothers – Happiness Begins Tour 09/05/2019
This was my favorite show because it was when the Jonas Brothers had just gotten back together and they honestly put on such a great show that transported me back to my middle school days. I hadn’t danced so much, sung so loud and honestly just had that much fun in a really long time! – Lauren Klonowski, Managing Editor
- Billie Eilish at SXSW – 03/15/2017
I had the opportunity to see Billie Eilish play a small showcase to about 40 people at Antones in Austin, TX at SXSW and I’ll never forget it. Her song “bellyache” had been released a few weeks before and I was so blown away by her performance. Billie was playing the ukulele and her brother Finneas was playing the piano. It was so raw and she had the ability to make everyone in that room feel every word she was singing. It was a level of emotionality I hadn’t experienced before at a show. I feel so lucky to have been in that room that day. – Gina Scarpino, Business Manager
- Metallica – 09/09/2019
I grew up listening to rock music while playing classical music, so of course Metallica’s 1999 live album with the San Francisco Symphony was a staple for me. When the band announced they were playing with the orchestra again in 2019 I knew I had to go. I was fortunate to get tickets to the night before, and they ended up being in the front row. The amount of talent on stage across genres and even across so many instruments was amazing. They played all the hits, they played some really special rarities, and they even played on a rotating stage! I was left speechless and I don’t know that I’ll ever see a show that tops it. – Alyssa Buzzello, Senior Photographer
- Childish Gambino – This Is America Tour – 12/15/2018
Childish Gambino is my favorite artist. I never got to see him live and it’s been a long time coming. Plus, he said it would be his last concert tour so I absolutely had to go this time around. The concert itself was incredible. It was super lit and his energy was contagious. He ignited the whole arena. He really knows how to put on a show. Hearing “3005” “Redbone” and “Sober” live was everything. He’s such a rockstar! So blessed to see him live. As he perfectly puts it, “this is not a concert, this is church.” It definitely was. Best concert of my life. – Nathan-Jay Collantes, Writing & Editorial Intern
- Shawn Mendes – Illuminate Tour – 07/21/2017
I’ve supported Shawn since he was on youtube and vine but was never able to see him live on his social media tours or first supporting or headlining tours. Illuminate Tour was the first time I was able to finally see him live. I had floor seats and was really close to b stage and the energy and love in that room was unmatched. Shawn means so much to me and his shows always feels like home. – Ivy Sandoval, Social Media Manager & Contributing Writer
- Coldplay – A Head Full of Dreams Tour – 08/17/2017
On my 24th birthday, I attended Coldplay’s “A Head Full of Dreams” tour at Soldier Filed. An incredible experience in the first place, I saw my favorite band from the floor, with a full view of both the main stage and B stage. With Beyond The Stage’s Business Manager and one of my best friends, Gina, we sang our hearts out, I cried within the first 5 minutes and it was even broadcast live and put online, so I can watch it over and over and over again. – Addie Whelan, Editor In Chief
- Harry Styles Live on Tour – 06/18/2018
I had actually already been to the Ft Lauderdale show of the tour just 9 days before and this specific night left a much bigger mark. The energy in TD Garden was unmatched. This time I got to be closer to the front in the pit and before the show started we were all getting to know each other and just overall having a good time. Everyone was there to have fun and I could feel it. I danced the whole night away and left sweaty and without shoes on which is proof enough of how amazing it was! – Amanda Restaino, Intern Coordinator & Contributing Writer
