Maty Noyes is a musical force to be reckoned with. The Mississippi-born/Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter holds numerous accomplishments under her belt. At age 17 she appeared on The Weekend’s song “Angel” from the Grammy-winning album Beauty Behind the Madness. The blonde bombshell then went double-platinum with Kygo’s “Stay” which showcased both her vocal talent and songwriting abilities. She would then later be tapped to lend her lyricism to Celine Dion’s album Courage. The starlet already has had an impressive career to boast, but today (September 3), with the release of her debut album The Feeling’s Mutual, Noyes breathes life into her own solo career.
The Feeling’s Mutual pinpoints an exciting time in Noyes’ artistic journey, representing both a culmination and a new beginning for her. Previous to the debut album, the singer released an EP, Noyes Complaint, which spawned the song “In My Mind,” garnering over 100 million Spotify listens. After, came the project Love Songs From A Lolita, leading her to receive recognition from Rolling Stone and The New York Times. While Noyes has carved a place for herself within the music scene, a debut album is an important and definitive step in establishing an artist’s identity and presence.
The album consists of 16 tracks, eight of which were released as singles. The arc of the album, according to Noyes, is inspired by three men she has been in love with over the years. In her own words, Noyes “hopes that everybody will find something on the album where they feel a special connection and know that we can relate through similar experiences we’ve been through. Every song is about a different stage of love. There’s every kind of emotion within love and I want to feel it all. This collection of feelings spans multiple genres of music and emotions that are an embodiment of love, heartbreak and everything in between.”
