Lorde Surprises Her Fans With Long Awaited Song ‘Solar Power’ and Music Video

Popstar Lorde hasn’t released any music since she dropped her Melodrama album back in 2017. She returned to the music scene with a bubbly, mellow, and summery-single that showcases the versatility of her voice and range in her songs. Her first single off her new album with the same name of ‘Solar Power’ goes off a different tangent than the music she has made in the past, which showed a darker side to her. The music video screams sunshine and exhilaration with Lorde dressed in a bright yellow two-piece outfit while those around her wallow around the beach in more neutral tones.

Over the last four years, Lorde has been exceptionally quiet about plans for any new songs, let alone an entire album. Any hints she has given towards new music were small but people slowly began to suspect that the singer had something up her sleeve. It was difficult for fan’s to not want to crack the code of what was next in Lorde’s music career, resulting in her song accidentally leaking and fans, unsurprisingly, downloading the song as fast as they could.

Her past albums, Pure Heroine and Melodrama, focused on an entirely different sound than “Solar Power”, leading fans to believe that they are in for a much different sound from the singer on this upcoming album. The opening line of the song makes a prominent point of her hatred for the winter, in turn the entire ambiance of the music video and song itself encapsulates the feeling of summer. This can also be a message from Lorde herself, since her past songs have had a colder and gloomier sound that this is the beginning of a new era; one that is sunnier and filled with light.
