The Australian band Lime Cordiale brought a vibrant, electrifying burst of energy to a sold-out show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
Led by brothers Oliver and Louis Leimbach, the band opened with the catchy “Impostor Syndrome.” The band’s seamless musical chemistry and distinct blend of indie rock, surf pop and alternative created a lively atmosphere that hooked the crowd immediately. Wearing fashionable blazers and trousers out of a ‘70s magazine, the two invited the entire crowd to party, dance and jam with their infectious enthusiasm and undeniable charisma.
The brothers’ synergy was palpable; their playful banter between songs added a very Australian sense of humor and cheerfulness to the performance, making their gig fit nicely within the fun and hip Williamsburg music scene. They made some cheeky jabs at Boston, where they played the previous night, to tease the New York crowd and stir up some fan interaction.
Oli and Louis masterfully commanded the stage, keeping the energy high throughout the show with their animated set. They seamlessly switched between instruments, with Oli often moving from guitar to trumpet and Louis taking charge of bass guitar, a trumpet and— at one point— a kazoo. Their musicianship was evident in every note, and their tight harmonies resonated through the venue.
The show also featured a multi-talented band, with one member playing guitar and busting out a trombone as a part of the set.
The setlist featured a mix of crowd favorites like “Temper Temper” and “Money” alongside new tracks like “The Big Reveal.” Each song was met with thunderous cheers from the audience, who danced and sang at full volume to every lyric.
The show’s grand finale with their hit “Robbery” was nothing short of delightful, with the band elevating the energy levels and delivering a thrilling and satisfying close to the night with the popular song.
The fun-loving personalities, boundless energy and exceptional musical talent of Lime Cordiale make them a must-see act for any live music enthusiast. The sold-out crowd in Brooklyn was reminded of why live music is a magical and joyful escape.Their 2024 North American headline tour ends this weekend in California, and the band is set to play a 24-stop European tour later this year.
