Earlier today, Irish-born singer and songwriter, Lenii, shared the music video for “I (Don’t) Miss You.” Influenced by Amy Winehouse and The Cranberries, the singer’s 2020 is off to a remarkable start, with a premiere on Billboard and some major playlist features.
While the singer has an EP titled In All Fairness out later this year, her latest track, “I (Don’t) Miss You” isn’t part of the track list. After realizing the state of the world, she decided to release the track on its own given how relevant it was to the current climate of the world. The video is simple, but delicately demonstrates the song’s concept. Ultimately, the track and video are relatable and honest as Lenii’s soprano voice slowly sings honest lyrics over a simple melodic track.
In the press release, Lenii shared that the song is “the most straight forward break-up song I’ve ever written” and that she loves the track “because itʼs so simple and up front,” shares Lenii. “Itʼs about missing being in the relationship, but not necessarily missing the person. Missing being somebodyʼs somebody – even if they weren’t good for you.”
