Ludwig Göransson has established himself as one of the most successful and skilled producers/composers there is today.
The Swedish composer is most commonly known for his musical scores but has proven his versatility in producing mainstream pop music. His first introduction into pop music was working with an artist that we are all too familiar with: Childish Gambino a.k.a. Donald Glover
Both artists have worked with each for a very long time, dating all the way back to 2010 when they produced Gambino’s first mixtape, Culdesac. Ever since then, the two have been inseparable. From the first EP to five projects later with Awaken, My Love!, Göransson and Gambino have been a cohesive team making hit after hit — earning six Grammy Award nominations!
This success eventually led the 36-year-old composer to bigger opportunities such as scoring for major films like Creed, Venom and more! Not only that, did you know he scored for TV shows as well?
Ever watched Community and New Girl and wondered why the music sounded so similar? That’s because Göransson composed music for both shows. He just understands how to set the right tone.
His midas touch has been on many songs and scores before, and we’re here to list the best ones you may (or may not) have known had his fingerprints all over them.
Let’s get started.
“So Done” – Alicia Keys & Khalid
Fresh off Alicia Keys’s latest album, ALICIA, “So Done” features Khalid as they link up for this cool, slow jam. As co-writer and co-producer, Göransson and Keys created a chill song of freedom, a thought that is universal to all of us, reminding us to live our best life.
“Forever” – HAIM
Been a minute since we last heard this. As the lead single from their debut album, Days Are Done, “Forever” is one of HAIM’s most popular songs. With the Swedish composer behind the production, they created a fun track with a nostalgic vibe.
“The Plan” – Travis Scott
In alignment with what would have been the biggest movie of the summer, Tenet, Travis Scott and Göransson collaborate for this bass-heavy, futuristic track in “The Plan.” Both artists are skilled producers in their own right and their musical styles mesh together so well. Hopefully, they link up for future projects.
“The Mandalorian” – Ludwig Göransson
If you haven’t seen this show to see Baby Yoda, what are you waiting for? As one of the biggest shows on streaming right now, Göransson delivers a fresh and unique take on the Star Wars theme in “The Mandalorian.” Matching the future dystopian western tone of the show, the decorated composer created a sound that is new yet still feels like the John Williams sound we’ve grown so accustomed to.

“Redbone” – Childish Gambino
One of the most iconic songs in the past five years. Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” is what helped push the artist into mainstream stardom. There’s so much going on in the production, layered with synths and bass. Gambino and Göransson created an R&B track to remember, receiving three Grammy nominations including Record Of The Year.

“This Is America” – Childish Gambino
These two know a thing or two of how to go viral. “This Is America” took the nation by storm, making a surprise drop in 2018. Starting from a guitar riff to the jumpy beat production, it is a wild track that exploits the black experiences in America. The single earned both artists two Grammy awards, Record of the Year AND Song of The year. An amazing feat!
It’s easy to see why artists and directors recruit Göransson to produce music for them. He’s very versatile and creative. His sound is like no other. At the age of 36, he’s only scratching the surface with what he can do musically and he has a long career ahead of him as he continues to score music for artists and filmmakers.
It is his time now.
