In an age where pop music continues to dominate the charts, Pandora and SiriusXM chose to celebrate the genre with their newest addition of Pandora Live featuring the Jonas Brothers and Ava Max. Fans started lining up for the intimate show starting Monday morning, some of them coming from as far as Mexico and Singapore, as they got excited about seeing the show on Tuesday night. The line extended for over six blocks through the busy New York streets as fans hoped to find their way into the free show at the iconic Webster Hall.
Upon entering the venue, anyone could just sense the excitement in the building. The concert hall was adorned with balloons and tables with free “suckers” and t-shirts to commemorate the evening. Everyone was buzzing, for many fans it was their first time seeing the Jonas Brothers since they announced their reunion earlier this year.
Current BTS cover star Ava Max kicked off the night with her fun and upbeat pop songs. She opened with “So Am I,” an energetic anthem targeted at those who feel like they don’t fit in. She belted out every word of every song with such energy and passion, it was hard to look away. Halfway through her set she played her brand new single “Torn,” followed by an epic cover of “Fallin'” by Alicia Keys. Max closed her high energy set with her smash hit “Sweet But Psycho” that got the whole venue singing. Her set displayed the perfect amount of energy to get the crowd ready for the rest of the show.
As the clock inched closer and closer to 9:30 PM, the buzzing in the venue was growing louder and louder. As soon as the clock struck 9:30, the Jonas Brothers triumphantly made their entrance, opening with a JB classic, “Burnin’ Up.” Throughout their set, it was almost hard to hear the brothers since the fans were singing so loud, but the brothers fed off the fan’s energy, giving every ounce of their passion and excitement back to the audience. Their set list was filled with the perfect mix of new and old songs, featuring tunes like “Rollercoaster,” “Strangers,” “That’s Just The Way We Roll,” and “Fly With Me.”
Watching the brothers was so electric. It was clear that even though they’re in the middle of a massive tour, that every night they’re still itching to get on stage every night to perform together. After everything they have been through together, it was inspiring to see that their camaraderie and passion were stronger than ever. Halfway through their set, they performed Nick Jonas’ solo hit “Jealous” and DNCE’s (Joe Jonas’ side project) smash “Cake By The Ocean.”
Whether the song was upbeat or more mellow, the energy from the brothers and the crowd never wavered for a second. Watching the way the brothers fed off the love and electricity from the crowd was incredible. The bond the Jonas Brothers have with their fans is undeniable. Watching the connection between them was almost as if the band’s hiatus never existed. The fans are still giving the band the love and support they’ve always displayed at the band’s shows, but there’s something more special about it now. Every ounce of adoration the fans have had for the brothers that’s been pent up for so many years is finally coming out in such a beautiful and pure way.
The band closed the show with a killer line up of songs – “Year 3000,” “Lovebug,” and their number one single “Sucker.” It was clear when the show ended that the fans could of watched the brothers all night. While everyone was sad the concert was over, there was one thing you couldn’t deny while listening to fans talk as they left the venue — they all really love the Jonas Brothers, and that’s never going to change.
