This past Friday, Michigander, stage name of Michigan native Jason Singer, dropped a surprise new single, “Superglue“. The indie-pop jam will serve as the first track on Singer’s upcoming EP It Will Never be the Same, scheduled to be released on March 31st via C3 Records. Singer described the single as “about second-guessing yourself, which is something I’ve done often”, and stated that he’s “really excited to play this one live. This was a song that was made with the intent of playing for rooms of people. It’s very congregational.”
The EP’s tracklist will be:
1. Superglue
2. Stay Out of It
3. The Other Way
4. Indianapolis
5. In My Head (with Manchester Orchestra)
6. Cannonball
Simultaneously with the single’s release came a music video, which has a unique backstory. Filmed in the wilderness of southern California this past September, the video documents its own creation, during which Singer fell and broke his leg in several places. The injury caused the release of the single and its EP to be pushed back by several months. Despite the setback, Singer remained in high spirits. “While it may not have been the original vision, I think Johnny Chew, my team, and I really were able to turn it into something very cool, plus we have something that documented this whole experience and time in my career”, he said.
Following the release of the EP, Singer will embark on a 21-date national tour, the It Will Never be the Same tour throughout the month of April. The full list of stops, which can be found here, include major cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, as well as smaller ones like Boise and Boulder. Along with Singer, it will feature Singer’s bandmates Aaron Senor (drums), Jake LeMond (guitar), and Connor Robertson (bass), as well as fellow musician Abby Holliday.
