The upcoming television series will be based on an upcoming album by Cudi with the same name. There is no release date yet for either project.
On June 10, Cudi released “Do What I Want”. Cudi announced the single on Instagram just three days before its release, with a caption and cover art that hinted at the series. “Do What I Want” opens with humming, in classic Kid Cudi fashion, and a producer tag from popular DJ/producer duo Take a Daytrip (Denzel Baptiste and David Biral).
In the song, Cudi talks about smoking weed, expensive cars and simply living life on his own terms. The second verse mentions Cudi’s Netflix project directly: “Feel like writin’ a movie, yeah, that shit would be groovy”.
The next day, the “Entergalactic” teaser came out on Youtube and Cudi’s social media. The adult animated music television series is a love story. Jabari (played by Cudi) is described as a “charming, streetwear-clad artist on the cusp of real success” who one day runs into next door neighbor and photographer, Meadow (played by Jessica Williams). The series features several popular musicians and actors: Timothée Chalamet, Ty Dolla Sign, 070 Shake, Jaden Smith, and Vanessa Hudgens to name a few.
In the teaser post, Cudi stated that the project is three years in the making and is his greatest achievement.
If you’re looking for a reason to keep your Netflix subscription, just remember “Entergalactic” will be on there soon!
