To kick off the holiday season with a new song, Beyond the Stage-featured artist Johnny Orlando decked the halls with his single “Last Christmas” on November 17. The song is a new pop cover of the 1986 classic by Wham! the pop duo consisting of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.
He took to Instagram after its release to share that “Christmas came early” with a lip-syncing video for the song and a flashback photo of him with Santa.

Signed to Island Records, the Toronto singer and songwriter began his career on YouTube through posting videos. Since starting his channel back in 2011, his social media following across channels has grown to over 25 million with over 500 million streams and YouTube views. His success and impact was recognized by MTV when he signed a global talent deal and consumer product partnership with the ViacomCBS-owned company.
Orlando’s debut EP Teenage Fever was released over a year ago in March 2019. It included his Gold-certified hit “What If (I Told You I Like You)” with Mackenzie Ziegler, known for her role in Dance Moms before starting her music career. The single accumulated 109 million global streams and over 21 million music video views in under a year. It even made Spotify’s “Viral 50” in 33 countries after landing the #1 spot on Musical.ly before it became TikTok where it has over 12 million video creations and was trending in over 15 countries. He re-released the song this past May due to the major success.

Just over a month ago, Orlando dropped his second EP It’s Never Really Over on October 23. It serves as the pinnacle of his growth over the 12 months leading up to its release. An EP about uncertainty and hope, it is a reflection of the times and is something to look to for comfort.
