Massachusetts native Jillian Dawn is a self-proclaimed small-town musical sweetheart. It is artists like her that keep local music scenes thriving. Only 22 years old, her newest contribution is a single called “For The Night,” which is out today on her own independent label.
The song balances country, pop, and solid production under the words of a blooming lyricist.
“‘For The Night’ came to me on a whim last February,” says Dawn. “Lyrically, it explores the decision to ‘upgrade’ a relationship to something more. It further elaborates on the uncertainty, fear and desire that you feel when you let yourself fall in love. It mirrors those notions musically; the calm, guitar-driven verses show vulnerability, while the big, choir-like choruses show power and longing at the same time. It makes me feel that ‘something’ every time I listen, and I hope you feel that way too.
