Music is always able to spread a positive message. Jake Miller proved that when he released his Ep “Rumors” back in July, with one song in particular, that song being “Sunshine.” Jake wrote the song in honor of his close childhood friend Dylan Andrew Schopp who passed away by Suicide on February 12, 2015 .
This past Wednesday, September 9th, Jake along with MTV and the Jed Foundation’s Love is Louder released the much anticipated music video for Sunshine during Suicide Prevention Week.
Directed by Edgar Esteves, the video captures the true beauty of Dylan’s life. The video starts off with a Dylan’s infamous quote “The Sun Don’t Rise Without Sunshine.” It is truly breathtaking. Not only is he shining light on an important cause, but he is honoring his close friend in a beautiful way. In the video you can see home movies capturing Dylan’s lovely life, along with photos of him with friends and family.
Jake contacted close friends and family to have them be apart of the video. Which is truly amazing. They gathered at a park in Weston Florida, and his life was celebrated when they released lanterns into the sunset.
Watching the video for the first time, I got tears in my eyes. Jake has always been the type of artist to write music with meaning, he writes songs that help people, and “Sunshine” is making an impact on people across the country, and the world. This just shows how much of an impact music, and artists can make on this world.
The video is truly beautiful, and spreads such a positive message, you aren’t alone and people will always care about you. I think Jake, Dylan’s friends and family all captured that perfectly in the video!
Be sure to watch the video here, and just remember that you are never alone!
