Jake Miller has all of us swooning over the surprise release of his “2am In LA” acoustic EP. Jake cut the 10 track album down to 5 and created an acoustic masterpiece.
- Back to the Start.
Back to the Start is about going back to your old relationship and the start of it, basically when things were good. It is a song to play when you feel like your relationship is changing and you want to get it back to where it belongs. With nothing but an acoustic guitar Jake took the upbeat song and slowed it down but still managed to keep it as a song you can jam to.
- Halfway
Halfway is your classic song about someone not giving their all in a relationship. The track is a song you can play to someone who likes playing games. Jake wrote “so are you in or out cause I don’t need your Halfway love.” That lyric really speaks for itself and the song. The acoustic version of the song is truly spectacular.
- Palm Blvd
This track is already fantastic, slowing it down to an acoustic version was something we all really needed. Jake dedicates this song to all his friends and family back home and it really warmed our hearts. Palm Blvd is about going back to your roots, going back to where you belong, going home. Jake talks about how he feels like he might have let Hollywood change him, so he wants to go back home and back to the person he was before “fame.”
- Can’t Help Myself
This track is the sexiest on the acoustic album. The lyrics and the chords of the guitar really sound perfect together. Jake’s vocals on this track are raspy in the best way possible. Can’t Help Myself is about doing something you know you shouldn’t, but you do it anyway because well, you just can’t help yourself!
- Answers
Jake started this song off by dedicating it to his dad. Someone who he refers to a lot in this song. Answers is about wanting to find all the answers to that certain thing, whether it be love, life, or anything else happening. Throughout the song Jake comes to the realization that no matter what we are never going to have the answers to the things going on in life and that is okay. It is a good song to listen to when you feel like you don’t have control on what is happening or you start questioning everything, just turn on “Answers” and it’ll help you through those times.
We absolutely love the acoustic EP that Jake put out. It was fully produced and written by Jake himself and he did a phenomenal job. We cannot wait to hear more from Jake in the future. Be sure to stream the album on Spotify or buy it on iTunes and don’t forget to let us know what you think!
