Jacob Banks is letting the whole world know that nothing is going to ruin his vibe.
The 29-year-old artist released the song and music video for his new single, “Parade,” on Wednesday, February 10. It is a powerful, uplifting track carried by a catchy melody that is filled with a rocky electric guitar and the harmonious sounds of the trumpet and trombone. It has that big, marching band feel that makes you want to get up off your feet and celebrate.
The music video takes place in a cargo yard where the star of the video, Kojey Radical, delivers a fun, animated array of choreographic expression. It is quite an interesting visual that perfectly emotes every word in the song, thanks to Radical’s electric moves. The video has quickly amassed an impressive 83.2K views in just four days.
It has been a while since Banks last dropped a full-length project. His last album, Village, a soulful project including songs like “Chainsmoking,” “Unknown (To You)” and “Prosecco,” was released back in 2018. Since then, he’s been keeping himself busy, making songs for movies and tv shows like The Equalizer 2 and Game Of Thrones. In addition, he’s been casually dropping singles, those of which are yet to be confirmed whether they would be on his next album.
Before “Parade,” Banks released a live, stripped-down version of his song “Stranger.” In this new rendition, we can hear the rich, passionate and emotional vocals that we all know he’s very capable of. So if you’re in your feelings right now, then check out the song on Spotify.
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time “Parade” was ever heard. Back in September 2020, the song was used in an ESPN commercial for the NFL titled “This Is Bigger Than Football.” The commercial showcases teams and players throughout the NFL joining in the fight for social justice and racial equality. Banks’s voice roars throughout the commercial, complementing the powerful message of the video.
For six months, Banks has been keeping this song in the reserves. The timing of this empowering single came just in time for Black History Month. Coincidence? We think not.
Jacob Banks is kicking off his 2021 with a bang! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds for him.
