We may not be able to experience live music any time soon, However, #SaveOurStages is making it possible to experience live music in the future.
This Black Friday, it’s a little different than normal, but you can still shop online, do your research and support the live music scene from the comfort (and safety) of your home.
Here are 5 ways you can help #SaveOurStages.
- Buy direct from local venues.
Music venues like Metro Chicago have released merch lines where proceeds go directly to the venue. From sweatshirts to posters, you can grab a piece of venue merch that is definitely a conversation starter.
2. Stream the #SaveOurStages live shows.
Don’t have a ton of cash on hand right now? You can still help by watching #SOSFest on YouTube. Make sure you’re watching all of the ads in between videos to help the organizers with their ad revenue.
3. Share and interact on social media.
It may be the easiest thing you’ll do all day, but interacting with local venues on social media can help boost their presence to new followers, new local supporters and potential donations. Sharing a post to your Instagram story is just a few clicks and can help someone realize how devastated the live music scene is right now. By sharing a post that includes a call to action, you can help push others to write to congress and save the local music scene.
4. Write a Note to Congress
Remember doing this in high school? We do too. But right now, it’s more important than ever that we actively push congress to help #SaveOurStages. It’s incredibly simple and effective and is even pre-written to make your job simple. Click here to get started.
5. Donate direct to a local venue
It’s easier than ever to just make a direct donation and these days, it’s more helpful than ever. Through #SaveOurStages, you can click here, select a local venue and make a donation. This helps venues pay their employees, make any necessary repairs they need or even fix the bathrooms that keep flooding.
