It seems like Harry Styles is following in his former band member’s footsteps.
After Zayn Malik left One Direction around a year ago, he almost immediately started pursuing his solo career. He signed to RCA Records, a division of Sony Music, and began work on his debut album. It was released exactly one year after he quit the band and produced his current hits, such as “Pillowtalk” and “Like I Would”. It was praised by critics and fans alike, and Malik is currently enjoying his own time in the spotlight.
Harry Styles had been undertaking his own interests as well. After One Direction began their hiatus in October of last year, Styles was rumored to have began filming an acting role on a movie titled “Dunkirk”, about World War II. Now, Styles has signed a recording contract with Columbia Records, the same record label that represents Adele, Beyoncé, John Mayer, and more, including One Direction. In March, he signed to a new management label, Full Stop, headed by Jeff Azoff.
Styles first began solo work when writing songs for his band as well as other artists; Ariana Grande performed the Styles-penned song “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart” at last year’s Grammy Awards. With a solo career that many former fans have been looking forward to, it’s not hard to imagine Styles’ future success.
It is currently unknown when Styles will release new music.
