Angels and Airwaves have definitely made 2021 their year. With a new album titled “Lifeforms” and a US tour that is bringing out the best of the best, we were so excited to talk to drummer, Ilan Rubin.
We sat down with Ilan Rubin to chat about his favorite artists, the start of tour and more.
BTS: What are some artists that inspired you to pursue music?
Ilan Rubin: Led Zeppelin primarily. They were the first band I listened to with intent and a desire to learn.
BTS: Angels and Airwaves recently came out with a new album titled “Lifeforms”, what is your favorite song from the release?
IR They all bring something different to the table, but let’s go with “Euphoria”.
BTS: You’ve had a hand in writing some of the songs on the new album, what was that process like?
IR: Tom and Aaron would write music and record ideas. Then they’d send me the material so that I could tweak/add/change things. Then I’d send it back.
BTS: After a long couple of years not being able to play shows, what are you most excited to do on tour?
IR: Play shows. Come on.
BTS: What song are you most excited to play live?
IR: I’m just excited to play a full concert and expel that kind of energy.
BTS: Are there any songs or artists that you have been listening to on repeat recently?
IR: No.
BTS: What else does 2021 have in store for you?
IR: A wedding, a honeymoon, and whatever work I can cram in before everyone goes away for the holidays.
BTS: Is there anything you are excited for coming up in 2022?
IR: More shows and hopefully more releases.
Angels and Airwaves started their “Lifeforms” tour towards the end of September but there are plenty of dates left for you to be part of this incredible experience. You can find the dates on their website or by clicking here. Which date are you excited to attend?
