Multi-faceted pop talent Griff dazzled the historic Élysée Montmartre in Paris for her headlining “Vertigo” World Tour, carrying the momentum of her most thrilling year to date.
Fresh off opening the “Short N’ Sweet” tour with Sabrina Carpenter for 11 U.S. stops, Griff began her European leg of the “Vertigo” World Tour last week in the UK. The British star brought her Eras Tour-level stadium energy, captivating stage presence and tracks from her sensational debut album to the open-air cast-iron hall in Paris.
Griff’s relentless global performances have made this her most intense touring year yet. Despite falling ill right before the show, Griff performed her Paris show flawlessly, fueled by the packed crowd singing along to support her through the challenging high notes.
The title track from Griff’s debut album, “Vertigo,” kicked off the show to usher the crowd into her world of swirling emotion, cathartic pop and raw vulnerability. Blending rhythmic beats and heartfelt lyrics, “Vertigo” captured the dizzying highs and lows of self-discovery in Griff’s new trajectory of music projects, while symbolically marking her expanded reach with the debut album and first global headlining tour.
Reaching new heights, Griff danced and swirled across the stage in a striking multi-layered custom creation, blending a modern edge with elegance. Known for sewing and designing her performance outfits, she wore a flared, removable black skirt over layered leggings and a white bralette, paired with black mesh puffy shoulders. The stage design echoed Griff’s creativity and dynamism, featuring a spiral LED centerpiece and flowing fabric drapery for a textured ensemble.
Despite being sick, it was evident that Griff could bring more than just her vocal talent to the stage. She proved to be a remarkably skilled performer with a captivating stage presence and musicality that commanded the audience’s attention.
From the poignant ballads “Pillow in My Arms” and “19th Hour” to the powerful, drum-driven anthems of “Miss Me Too” and “Tears for Fun,” Griff seamlessly moved between the high-energy opening anthems and the deeply emotional tracks of the album, demonstrating her artistic range with ease.
Seamlessly moving between the microphone, vocoder, and loop pedal throughout the set, Griff showcased her exceptional musicality and genuine passion for creating an experience that was both intimate and cathartic.
She sat at the edge of the stage, eye-to-eye with the fans at the barricade, for her acoustic version of “So Fast” and “Everlasting.” Pausing for a moment to reflect on the finite experiences of relationships and how varied our perspectives are due to our different upbringings, her heartfelt words added a deeper layer of meaning to the performance and pulled the audience into a shared moment of introspection and connection.
The 23-year-old was excited to debut her new viral single, “last night’s mascara,” after finalizing the demo during her “Short N’ Sweet” run. The song was a special gift for fans who had eagerly anticipated its official release ever since the unfinished demo appeared as a bonus track on the album. With buzzing excitement for fresh music from the hardworking artist, the crowd clapped along to the rhythm and passionately belted the bridge, creating an electric atmosphere.
Pumping her fist in the sky with a French flag signed by fans draped around her shoulders, Griff was supported unwaveringly by the audience through the last third of the setlist— the most powerful and explosive section of the show.
Griff’s performance in Paris was a stunning display of her artistry, passion, and perseverance—nothing short of extraordinary. With her authentic, raw talent and remarkable depth, Griff stands out as a must-watch artist in the industry as she concludes her global tour in Europe and embarks on her next steps after a career-changing year.
