Philadelphia-born singer Greya dropped an electric new single today (August 13). The song, entitled “Lightning,” is a duet with Marc E. Bassy and produced by Isaia Huron. This charged track is about the heartache that comes with loving someone who doesn’t love you back. In her own words, Greya describes the track in a press release as a “back and forth struggle between two different perspectives on a broken relationship. It’s about loving someone who loves someone else, and the heartbreak that comes from knowing you’d do anything for someone who isn’t sure about you. The flip perspective…being torn between two people.”
Greya is relatively new to the music scene but has already made a large splash with her musical talents. Her sound can perhaps be best described by her Instagram bio: “Whether you’re crying in the shower or crying in the club, I probably have a song for that.” She released her first song, “He,” during the height of the pandemic and followed it with “All Hell Breaks Loose” and “Thrive.” Already in her career, she’s garnered 1.5 million streams between all listening platforms, an impressive feat for such a short amount of time.
Her duet partner, Marc E. Bassy, hails from the Bay Area and has found massive success in his career so far. He’s been featured on tracks with Kehlani, Hailee Steinfeld, and TY$. He has multiple hit songs including “You & Me” featuring G-Eazy and has so far amassed over 1 billion listens across streaming platforms.
The producer, Isaia Huron, is an up-and-coming artist whose work includes their song “Loving You Is A Mountain.”
