Swedish rock band Girl Scout have shared the new single “I Just Needed You To Know.” The song is the band’s first release since its critically acclaimed EP Granny Music came out in September 2023. “I Just Needed You To Know” also comes with a music video shot and edited by the band. Watch it below.
Girl Scout worked with contemporary hit rock producer Alex Farrar to complete the single, according to a release. The song has a thumping bassline and noisy elements.“I Just Needed You To Know” takes many different directions throughout its four-and-a-half-minute run time. That’s in part thanks to how Girl Scout wrote it.
“‘I Just Needed You To Know’ was birthed during a spontaneous jam session in the middle of rehearsing for tour,” said vocalist and guitarist Emma Jansson. “Starting with Viktor toying with the opening riff, almost the entire song was just the band playing in a room with the mics rolling. We wanted the raw energy of the song to remain, so not much has been done to it.”
Jansson, along with Girl Scout’s drummer Per Lindberg, guitarist Viktor Spasov, and bassist Evelina Arvidsson Eklind are scheduled to join Canadian pop-rockers Alvvays on their upcoming UK and EU summer tour.
